Ever Zoomed In On A Strawberry? The Closeup Is Terrifying

This kind of reminds me of high school biology when we’d put randomly put pond water on those little Dexter-looking slides and observe it with a microscope.

Photographer Alexey Kljatov didn’t use a microscope for this, but still got pretty up close and personal with the surface of a strawberry.

It doesn’t look quite as sexy as strawberries usually do, as it looks like Homer Simpson’s stray hairs are wandering around, and the seeds look like pistachios with rosacea.

For you photo nerds who might actually know what this means, Kljatov explained that he used a macro set up and applied a focus stacking technique, plus averaging. He took 10 group shots with different focus and each group had eight identical shots.

While it would look a lot better covered in chocolate, it’s still pretty cool because you don’t usually see food this close, unless you have cucumber slices over your eyes.
