Soon You’ll Be Able To Try Plant-Based Poached Eggs with Actual Runny Yolk

Plant-based food has taken another impressive leap with the world’s first animal-free whole poached egg from Yo Egg. A timely release in light of the current egg shortage, the debut comes in partnership with a slew of popular Los Angeles eateries that include Real Food Daily, Swingers Diner, Coyote Grill, Flore Vegan, Vegan District Asian Eatery, Junkyard Dog and more.

What makes this product stand out from other plant-based eggs on the market is that it features actual runny yolk, while retaining the authentic taste of the original. Yo Egg’s poached egg is mainly made using chickpeas and soy, along with other non-GMO ingredients. Unlike chicken eggs, Yo Egg is more sustainable and delivers the “whole egg” experience that many consumers and restaurants are seeking.

According to a study Pantry and Larder did using Google Trends, Americans enjoy consuming boiled eggs the most out of other types. Basically, Yo Egg has the answer to our egg inflation and is what many egg-lovers have been waiting for.

Chef Yosefa Ben Cohen is the culinary mastermind behind Yo Egg, and created the poached egg for everyday recipes like eggs benedict, eggs on toast, breakfast bowls, chilaquiles, and more. Moving forward, her goal is expansion that includes sunny-side up and hard boiled offerings.

Yo Egg will debut at restaurants across Los Angeles. Below is a list of some of their initial partners.

  • Real Food Daily: (both locations), Ramen Bowl, Eggs Benedict and Avocado Toast
  • Swingers Diner: Avocado Toast, Quinoa and Eggs Bowl, All American Breakfast,
  • Coyote Grill: Eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros, and Chilaquiles
  • Flore Vegan:  Poached in Purgatory Toast, Breakfast Bowl, and Eggs Benedict
  • Vegan District Asian Eatery: Poached Egg Fried Rice
  • Junkyard Dog:  Eggs Benedict and Avocado Toast
