Woman Gets Sentenced To Work In Fast Food For Assaulting Chipotle Employee

Food fights are one of those things that look way more fun than it actually is in real life. Aside from a pie tossing contest, there aren’t very many occasions where throwing food at someone is acceptable. Last month, a woman named Rosemary Hayne learned the hard way, when she was found guilty of throwing a chicken burrito bowl into a Chipotle worker, Emily Russel’s face. According to The Washington Post, the judge has finally handed out Hayne’s sentencing, and it’s definitely a surprising one.

“This is not ‘Real Housewives of Parma.’ This behavior is not acceptable,” Judge Timothy Gilligan of Parma Municipal Court said during sentencing. “You didn’t get your burrito bowl the way you like it, and this is how you respond?”

Before the final sentencing, Hayne was originally supposed to pay a fine and serve a 180-day jail term with a 90-day suspension, but in a turn of events, Judge Gilligan agreed to lower her sentence by working it off at Chipotle. More specifically, 20 hours per week for two months in exchange for reducing her sentence by 60 days.

Emily Russell, is still recovering from the trauma and says that the last two months have been challenging for her. She revealed that during the incident she was also protecting a 17-year-old that was being accosted by Hayne. She said she remade the order twice and included additional toppings in an attempt to please Hayne. Unfortunately, it proved unsuccessful as Hayne returned minutes later.

“She started screaming at me. The next thing I knew she threw the food in my face. I was so embarrassed and in shock,” she said. “I couldn’t believe my customers had to witness that. I had to work with food in my face and hair for the next four hours after it happened because no one was sent to relieve me.”

A month following the incident, Russell quit her job at Chipotle, claiming that she didn’t receive support. “I was working 65 hours a week. I was exhausted. I had anxiety every day going to work,” she said.
