A Woman Finds Over $500 With Her KFC Chicken Sandwich

A woman named Joann Oliver got more than her stomach filled one afternoon upon returning to work to enjoy her KFC lunch.

In what must’ve been considered a gift from the heavens above, Oliver opened the bag ready to partake in a tasty fried chicken sando only to find a total of $543.10 in cash underneath it.

Maybe the extra 10 cents was the giveaway, but despite the average person’s better judgment, Oliver decided to immediately contact the police to report the surprising discovery.

Turns out the restaurant’s daily deposit found its way into her order. Commending the stand-up citizen, The Jackson Police Department shared a statement on Facebook, “Not only did Mrs. Oliver do the right thing but she saved the managers job. Mrs. Oliver thank you for reminding us that we have amazing Citizens in Jackson and its people like you that make us great!”

According to WSB-TV, to show appreciation for Oliver’s good Samaritan-ship, KFC gave her a refund for her lunch and also an additional free meal. When interviewed, Oliver revealed she definitely considered keeping some. Unfortunately, her husband is currently fighting cancer and they owe $2 million in medical bills, so any extra bit of money could surely have helped.

Sticking to her righteous guns, Oliver said, “If you don’t do the right thing it’s gonna come back on you. I mean It wasn’t mine. I didn’t need to keep it. I’ll get mine in the future.”

Here’s to hoping she gets hers sooner rather than later.
