Woman Dresses Like a 1950s Housewife but Bakes Like Tim Burton

Christine McConnell is a self-taught baker who learned how to make extraordinary pastries by watching YouTube tutorials. Her instagram is a rabbit hole of mesmerizing, melancholy eats, from alien sugar cookies creeping along polka-dotted tablecloths to terrifying strawberry waffle cones.

Using a Nikon D600, the beauty photographer-by-day and mad baker-by-night blends the kitschy style of the 1950s with the cheesy sense of humor of the 1980s (think The Evil Dead, 1981).

The result culminates in an ongoing series of dark confectionery demons:

Nearly everything in this photo is baked, frosted, painted, modeled, styled and photographed by her.
