Chamoy Ice Cubes Are The Sweetest Way To Spice Up Your Watermelon Drink

When the weather starts heating up, you don’t have to chain yourself to lemonade and iced tea. Watermelon can be just as refreshing, and in Mexican culture, an agua de Sandia can do the trick when the sun’s beating down on you.

Agua de sandia, roughly translates to “watermelon water,” and is a beverage consisting of blended watermelon, a few cups of water, sugar and lime.

Well, our buddy Hector Gomez put an extra twist to his Agua de sandia by adding “Chamoy,” a spicy, sweet, salty, and sour (yup, it’s all of tastes at once) syrup that is often drizzled over fruit in Mexican cuisine.

Gomez essentially squirts some store-bought Chamoy into an ice cube tray, then sprinkles some chili powder, blends up some watermelon with lime-infused water, and makes delicious frozen cubes out of it.

It’s really easy and definitely kicks your tastebuds in the face.
