The First-Ever IHOP + Applebee’s Duo Restaurant Has Opened In Texas
For the first time ever, IHOP and Applebee’s have joined forces to open the inaugural IHOP/Applebee’s combo restaurant an hour outside of San Antonio, Texas, in the small town of Seguin.
“IHOP has always struggled bringing in the dinner crew,” CEO John Peyton of Dine Brands told us at the grand opening. “So we figured what better way to drive the late-night crowd than by introducing the Applebee’s crowd.”
Nestled just off the freeway in Seguin, Texas, this former-Applebee’s standalone restaurant has been transformed into a modern, American gastropub-style eatery that has combined both immense menus together for one super-menu, boasting over 125 products that cover every corner of the dining spectrum. Want a margarita with your pancakes? Done. Espresso martini and waffles? Doable — and delicious. Trust me.
“We want this to be the place everyone comes to no matter what the occasion calls for,” Peyton continued. “Whether it’s after prom, date night, or after church on Sunday mornings, we’ve got you.”
The atmosphere at the grand opening was electric as Dine Brands big-wigs, media outlets, and even the mayor of Seguin came out for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“This restaurant is meant to demonstrate the capabilities for growth and change,” Peyton told me over an espresso martini. “We want to show our community that we are growing alongside them and catering to their needs.”
The restaurant’s extensive menu offers everything from cocktails to breakfast, appetizers to dinner, and everything in between. We had the chance to try some of their exclusive hybrid creations—the Buffalo Chicken Omelette and the Ultimate Breakfast Burger had the whole restaurant cheering. But for me, dessert stole the show: a delicious Belgian Waffle Sundae topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream was the perfect sweet ending to a successful launch.
With more hybrids opening on the horizon, Peyton and his team of innovators are excited about the future of IHOP and Applebee’s. If you’re rolling through Seguin, stop in and have an espresso martini in my honor.
