Taqueria Zamora
Taqueria Zamora has a special place in my heart. For more than 2 years straight out of highschool, I worked as a super-intern of sorts at a fun production company in Santa Ana (what’s up MVT!). Morale was always high around lunchtime amidst my co-workers, but the highlight of our workweek was definitely something that the staff there now refers to as an official holiday: “Huaraches Friday”. For those unfamiliar, a Huarache has been described as a “mexican pizza”, a concoction of refried beans, your choice of meat, lettuce and cheese all atop a fried mat of corn masa that resembles an extremely fat sandle. Every friday at work, we would pull straws and someone drives out to Taqueria Zamora and picks up the goods. Today though, my friend Marc and I decided we would actually sit down, instead of ordering and picking up. What an awesome vibe:
Business on the outside.
HYPE on the inside!
Dance while you wait for your food.
Appetize with some refried beans and some great salsa.
Marc appreciates the classics.
Food is here!
My chicken huarache!
Marc’s carne asada huarache.
Sorry Marc! Nice Myspace picture though, no?
Done!
These guys have an expansive menu, a welcoming staff and a dope location to enjoy during your lunch hour (or later in the evening if you’re trying to pre-party!). Check out one of their two locations and start studying their menu on their website. If you guys are looking for a new holiday, get your co-workers or your fellow schoolmates to celebrate a “Huaraches Friday” courtesy of the good people at Taqueria Zamora!
