Taiwanese Fried Chicken Sliders and Deep Fried PB+J’s at LA’s Lock & Key
If you haven’t had the chance to check out LA Koreatown’s Lock & Key for its impressive custom cocktail lists, heavy-hitting albeit small specialty food menu or its maze of doorknobs upon entry, you probably should. The top reason for visitation goes to its Deep-Fried Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich. It will forever change your opinion about jelly donuts because once you’ve tried the goodness that peanut butter brings to this fried concoction, you’ll never look back.
Other menu notables include The Angry Bird, a Taiwanese style fried chicken breast atop a Hawaiian roll with spicy coleslaw, Lollipop Chicken Wings and its Butter Garlic Fries (forever renamed Barlic Gutter Fries internally because of a classic mispronunciation).
Tip: if you’re looking for delicious eats on the go, try the California Burrito from Stall 239, a take-out window that’s connected to the same building but has an entirely different menu.
We also got to try five different cocktails including The Old Money, (L+K’s twist on the classic Old Fashioned), The Razzle Dazzle (Rye Gin, Elderflower Liqueur, Cucumber + Lemon Juice, Rosemary Syrup, Basil Chiffonade, Club Soda), Rum Old Fashioned (Dark Rum, Peach, Angostura Bitters, Honey Sryup & Orange Peel), The Aviation (Gin, Galliano Liqueur, Creme de Violette, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup) and The Strawberry Mule (Vodka, Strawberries, Mint, Ginger + Lime Juices, Ginger Beer). Check out the photos below!
