When somebody rips off the name of a major chain like Starbucks and then associates it with weed, you know that story is not gonna end well.

That’s what happened to NJ Weedman’s Joint after they decided to change their theme and name to “Weedbukx” in honor of 4/20 last month. The cafe recently received a letter from Starbucks in response to the name change, which also features a logo eerily similar to Starbucks’, but also features a man smoking weed that looks like the Starbucks siren.

Weedman’s owner, Ed Forchion, is currently in jail on witness tampering charges, but his partner, Debi Madaio, posted the cease and desist letter from Starbucks to Facebook a couple of days ago. It asks “Weedbukx” to remove the “problematic signing.” Since the whole thing was a short publicity stunt, Forchion’s partner noted on the Facebook post that the signs were already moved to inside and out of public view.

However, it’s not clear yet if Starbucks is okay with that single change, and the letter does ask for written confirmation of the removed alterations by May 10th and was posted a few days afterward, so it’s also unclear if NJ Weedman’s was able to respond on time.

Guess we’ll have to wait for Starbucks’ response to find out.
