Starbucks Recalls Sausage Breakfast Sandwiches In 3 States Amid Listeria Fears

In the fast-paced and cutthroat business of breakfast sandwiches, it’s fair to say Starbucks Coffee has continually drawn a crowd.

But, as news of the coffee giant’s recently announced food recall begins to circulate, things could change.

On March 4, the Federal Food and Drug Administration, reported that Starbucks Coffee and food supplier, Progressive Gourmet Inc., issued a recall to a popular Starbucks breakfast item. Both companies, according to the FDA, have expressed this recall was put into effect sheerly, “out of abundance of caution.”

Starbuck’s Sausage, Egg and Cheddar breakfast sandwich was recalled by food supplier, Wilmington, Mass.-based., Progressive Gourmet Inc., due to possible exposure to listeria, which was detected during routine testing at the suppliers packaging facility.

Several reports confirmed the description of the the ready-to-eat sandwich, which is shipped individually wrapped. The product has been removed and no illnesses have been reported.

“The recall affects 6-ounce packages of Sausage, Egg, and Cheddar Cheese on English Muffin breakfast sandwiches wrapped in clear plastic and labeled, ‘Best Before: 07-AUG-2016,'” Fortune magazine reported.
