Starbucks Now Serving Beer And Wine At 70 Locations

Starbucks is rolling out the booze with the introduction of their evening program, which started in Seattle in 2010. The popular coffee chain will be adding five more shops this week to its list of 70 locations nationwide that will be serving beer and wine to customers. The locations that will be adding alcoholic beverages to its menu include Starbucks in Denver, Miami, Orlando, New York City and Northern California.

Starbucks wants to serve their customers at all hours of the day according to their online evening menu, which reads:

“We’ve always been your neighborhood morning stop—a place to help you start your day. Now we’re bringing a little delight to your evenings too.”

The company first began experimenting with their new menu at a coffee shop known as its “learning lab” in Seattle. Starbucks’ evening program will debut its new expanded list of food items that include truffle mac and cheese, chicken sausage and mushroom flatbread, bacon wrapped dates, chicken skewers, and meatballs with tomato basil sauce. Customers will be able to pair their small plates with specially selected wines and craft beers. The extensive beverage list include prosecco, pinot gris, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and malbec, to name a few.

Starbucks plans to offer their wine and beer menu at 2,000 of its 12,000 stores nationwide within the next five years. A coffee shop in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York started to serve booze on Wednesday, making it the second Starbucks in the Big Apple to do so (the first is located in Macy’s in Manhattan). Starbucks is eager to roll out the booze opening its sixth coffee shop in Denver to serve alcohol, fifth in Orlando, second in Miami, and ninth in northern California — four in San Francisco alone.
