Starbucks Jumps To A New Color Trend With Release Of Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino

Between unicorn food, rainbow food, and a whole assortment of other vibrantly colored delicacies, the internet has started to grow tired of these polychromatic trends that have come into our drinks and meals. As a result, jet black food, like charcoal ice cream, has begun to invade Instagram and take over as the latest food hype.

Starbucks, who has recently been hopping all over the food trends game with Unicorn Frappuccinos and the Pink Drink, is continuing its initiative to stay on top of what’s poppin’ on Instagram and created its own “jet black” frap. Called the Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino, it’s a frozen infusion of mint crystals, dark chocolate, milk, and ice that’s now available nationwide.

Granted, the new drink isn’t 100% midnight, since it’s got a band of whipped cream running through the middle of the beverage. That contrast definitely plays off well on photos, though. While the black part of the drink seeps into the middle band of cream easily, it’s definitely a fun picture to snap if you do it fast.

Since the Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino just dropped today, you can be ahead of the Instagram game by snagging one ASAP. You can also wait till May 5th when Frappuccino Happy Hour begins and the frozen drinks are half off from 3-6 pm. (“Frappy Hour” ends on the 14th, in case you were wondering.)

Considering it’s a mint-chocolate drink, I bet that unlike Starbuck’s last attempt at a hype beverage, this one will actually taste good.
