Sriracha Red Velvet Cream Cheese Cupcakes, You’ll Kind of Like Them
The idea came real quick a few months back — Phil and I were prepping all the items for our Sriracha Food Porn video, a video where the progression of items squirted Sriracha on would get more and more unconventional.
The video starts off tame enough, us squirting sriracha like ketchup onto burgers, cheese fries and noodles. But when we get to the dessert phase, we knew that we’d be perking up some eyebrows in the process — Sriracha on cupcakes? Frankly, we were a bit concerned it’d come off a bit unbelievable — but believe it, everything in that video actually works well together.
For the cupcake scene, we used red velvet cakes with a cream cheese frosting, a perfect based for a drizzle of Sriracha. Every bite was front loaded with spice, and then cooled down by the frosting, and whisked away by the actual cake. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out.
