Sprite’s Green Bottle Will Transition to Clear Plastic

In an effort to boost recycling, Sprite will be ditching its signature green bottles for clear ones starting August 1, 2022. The move marks Sprite’s first major update in over 60 years.

The green plastic Sprite bottle is made from polyethylene terephthalate, or PET. Though it is recyclable, not all recycling facilities are willing to process it, since additives like color make the plastic less reusable.

Besides the new, clear look, Sprite will be unveiling a revamped logo and packaging design which will include prominent “Recycle Me” messaging that supports the brand’s commitment to sustainability.
