Sonic’s Secret Menu Gems: Dirty Soda And Pickle Fries Revealed

It’s no secret that Sonic Drive-In has a secret menu, but did you know there are even secret-er menu items? In an Instagram post, Gianna Gravalese shared two tasty discoveries: Dirty Diet Coke and pickle fries. The new soda features a mix of sweet cream, coconut, and lime, giving it a dessert-like flavor. As for the pickle fries, they’re spear-shaped, unlike the round Pickle-O’s.

If Gravalese’s enthusiastic reactions to both are any indicator, these are two must-try items. Her discovery inspired someone in the comments to share another fun secret; apparently, you can give Dr Pepper the dirty treatment, too. The most revealing comments came from Utah locals, who are experts on dirty sodas. One comment claims that there are over 60 soda shops throughout the state, where the dirty soda craze originated.

For those not familiar, dirty soda was created by Mormons as a way to consume caffeine because they are prohibited from drinking hot caffeinated beverages. Similar to an ice cream float, dirty soda can be a blend of multiple sodas, soda and milk or cream, syrup, fruit purees, and more. It’s also popular in Idaho. Fortunately, you can try dirty soda at a Sonic Drive-In near you.
