How to Ship Cupcakes [411]

When it comes to the Holiday season, shipping sweets across the city and across the country becomes a joyous occasion for all parties involved. Except when you receive a batch of cupcakes that has been shipped upside down, only to receive a box of batter crumbs swimming in frosting.

After perusing one of my favorite cupcake blogs (drop: The Cupcake Project), they suggested something genius: use half-pint mason jars as your cups for baking, and ship in the same jars! Those mason jars are oven safe, allowing you to bake, freeze and ship all out of the same jar. Some safe, well packaged boxes containing these jars would make an awesome holiday gift. Stef even suggests throwing an ice pack in the box to keep your cupcakes cool during their journey. (PicThx: The Cupcake Project)
