The DA Officially Charges Those Santa Ana Cops Who Raided A Dispensary And Ate ‘Food’

Remember those Santa Ana cops who got caught on camera raiding a dispensary last year? Those same cops who looked like they ate a bunch of edibles, made of a disabled lady and destroyed all the security cameras in the joint except the one that ended up catching them red handed? Yeah, well, those coppers are officially being charged with petty theft and vandalism.

A press release today from Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas officially confirms the charges against three Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) officers. Brandon Matthew Sontag, 31, and Nicole Lynn Quijas, 37, and Jorge Arroyo, 32, were charged with one misdemeanor count of petty theft while Sontag also got slapped with a count of vandalism under $400.

If convicted on all counts, two of the officers (Arroyo and Quijas) face a max sentence of six months and while Sontag faces a one year and six month jail sentence.

While the surveillance footage shows the trio eating what was initially reported as “edibles,” the DA is claiming that they were just chomping on Detour Simple protein bars and Mrs. Thinsters cookies that they found in a room off-camera. Not saying the DA is wrong, but what are the odds that cops raid a dispensary and get so hungry in the process that they just decide to opt for the petty theft of a couple protein bars? Then of course there’s the footage of the officers just meandering around playing darts after eating whatever it is they ate. But let’s not jump to conclusions.

Couldn’t they just have made some Weed Oreo Cookies at home, and called it a night?

The three officers are scheduled for arraignment on April 11, 2016 for those of you who are interested in attending.
