How This Stunning Sandwich Came From The World’s Saddest Man

Making food can be a real labor of love, especially when there’s no love left in your heart.

Melancholic and beautiful do not begin to describe the first episode of Keiran Lenhof’s new cooking series Sad Man Meals. While we’ve seen Internet cooking shows in the past, very few have matched the hauntingly realistic quality of this entry.

In his first episode, he creates a Pork Sandwich while struggling with a recent divorce.

Within the first few minutes, we expect him to create something out of the ShittyFoodPorn subreddit. Imagine our shock within the final shots of the video where his “Sad Man Meal” becomes a stunning sandwich, complete with egg yolk porn.

The series’ goal is not to feed one sad man, but to feed the sad man inside each of us: the men and women who make up the lonely, the depressed, the heartbroken, and the melancholy.

Feel deserted? Enjoy a dessert. No friends? Friend a pizza. Love may have left you, but a steaming plate of melty nachos never will.

You can check out the first episode in the embed above, or go to the Vimeo page to view the complete recipe for the Pork Sandwich. The project features the the brilliant work of Food Photographer Allison Davis and Art Director/Food Stylist Michelle T. Nguyen.

Man, we’re already hungry for more Sad Man Meals.
