Retractable Kitchen Island Controlled By An iPhone App

YouTube user tphthaler had uploaded a video of his retractable kitchen island completely controlled through an app on his iPhone. Below the kitchen floor seen above is an unfinished storage room, currently housing a hydraulic scissor lift bolted to the cement and holds a small frame built to push up the kitchen island upon iPhone command.

The unit has cabinet doors on the other side, of which have safety push button switches that kill the electricity and prevent it from moving when the doors are not fully closed. According to the notes given us via the video’s description box, the lift should easily lift over 1,500lbs. No word on the app’s availability yet, but we’ll let you know if any further light gets shed on this curious video:
