Rebecca & Mike: Corporate Food Mascots in Fashion

REBECCA & MIKE are an independent UK-based creative team that recently did projects with Sir Paul McCartney on his new LP Memory Almost Full, and the likes of Nike, MTV and Playstation. What’s up next for these creative minds?A high-brow fashion design exhibition which includes nods to Taco Bell, Dunkin’ Donuts, Hershey’s Kisses and much more. All under the guise and theme of “workwear”, or as how Rebecca & Mike put it, “Extreme workwear”. At first, the message went over my head. After some further reading and explanation on behalf of the designers, it’s all starting to click. While not the typical workwear, these recreations of corporate mascots seem to be paying homage to an idea of “doing business” by entirely immersing the worker. Crazy, or maybe not. The show will be available until March 5th 2010.

‘Workwear’ can be seen at:

Arnold & Sheila Aronson Galleries
Sheila C. Johnson Design Center
Parson’s New School of Design
66 5th Avenue at 13th St
New York
Closes on March 5th 2010
