Raccoons Drunk Off Beer Are Causing A Ruckus In Germany

In what can best be described as a scene from a Guardians of the Galaxy spinoff, raccoons in Germany are getting drunk and raising hell.

According to The Drinks Business, the masked bandits have caused over $10,000 in damages as they’ve broken into kitchens to eat food (not to mention pets) and drink booze.

Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union’s Berthold Langenhorst says the raccoons “like beer,” and have seen them knock over beer bottles to get at the booze inside.

According to Germany’s National Hunting Association, it killed 200,000 raccoons in 2022 to try and reduce the number, which had risen from less than 10,000 around 20 years ago. Estimates have around 1,000 raccoons living in Berlin alone.

This isn’t the first time Germans have had to deal with drunken raccoons either. In 2019, a raccoon drunk on mulled wine passed out at Erfurt’s Christmas market.

Go home, Rocket! You’re drunk.
