Why Your Coffee Cups Will Soon Grow Into Trees
The future of coffee cups might look a little more eco-friendly. Instead of throwing out those coffee cups every morning, there’s a company called “Reduce Reuse Grow” that’s creating coffee cups that are not only biodegradable, but have built-in seeds that can be used to plant trees.
The Kickstarter for the World’s First Plantable Coffee Cup is pretty much a go as it has gone well beyond its $10,000 funding goal well before its March 15 end date.
Kickstarter highlights that over 146 billion coffee cups are thrown out annually. It also states that even when we recycle our cups, they can only be reused about three times before the fibers become unusable.
In order to fix this coffee cup problem, the plantable cups let you do the planting yourself or you can place them in a special Reduce Reuse Grow trash can and have them transferred to reforestation locations such as Shasta National Forest or Inyo National Forest, both in California.
This looks like a pretty cool way to reduce trash, one jittery drink at a time.
