Not a Single Human Works at This Automated Pizzeria In France
The growing trend of automation in restaurants is joined by a Paris-based pizzeria named Pazzi. At this human-free restaurant, robots handle pretty much every necessary task.
According to Mashable, from prep to adding toppings and even boxing to taking orders, every step is automated. In the video, you can see how each part of the process is carefully executed by moving robotic parts. Dough is flattened in one fell swoop, after which sauce is neatly applied. Next, the pie is moved to what can be called the “topping station” before it’s fired and ready for pickup.
Sébastien Reverso, co-inventor of the Pazzi robot, took eight years to refine the automation with the help of his team. Using cloud-connected software it delivers customized pizzas in 5 minutes and makes 10 pizzas simultaneously which allows for 80 per hour. The final result is considered “The Fast Food of the Future.”
At Pazzi, an open kitchen concept allows customers to observe the creation process live. “The show cooking experience is providing an emotional approach of the dining experience while providing autonomy to the consumers (from ordering to collecting their meal).”
Restaurants aren’t the only area related to food where automation is set to become more commonplace. A New Zealand-based agritech company named Robotics Plus is aiming to revolutionize farming with a fleet of autonomous robots.
The upside to new tech is its potential to increase efficiency, lower operation costs, and improve the customer experience, yet the benefits do not always outweigh the potential downside, which can negatively impact the world’s workforce.
Will the current workforce be able to keep up with automation as it reshapes the world around us? Time will surely tell.
