Papa John’s at the Top — McDonald’s at the Bottom of Satisfaction Report

McDonald’s was ranked last, and Papa John’s was ranked first among fast-food chains in the American Consumer Satisfaction Index’s 2012 report. Every year, the ACSI releases rankings for restaurants and transportation across the nation.

With its score of 83 percent satisfaction, Papa John’s dethroned Pizza Hut which received the highest score in 2011 (81 percent).

Among the major fast food chains, from top to bottom the 2012 rankings were: Papa John’s (83), Subway (82), Little Ceasar (82), Dunkin Donuts (79), Wendy’s (78), Pizza Hut (78), Domino’s Pizza (77), Taco Bell (77), Starbucks (76), KFC (75), Burger King (75) and McDonald’s (73).

Even with it’s low ranking, McDonald’s jumped up 1.4 percent from last year and has jumped up almost 16 percent from its record-low 59 percent satisfaction rating in 2000.

Since the ACSI first started rating the restaurants in 1995, McDonald’s has been at the bottom of the pack in all but one year, when it surpassed Burger King and KFC in 2009.

According to Forbes, McDonald’s plans to spend $1.5 billion by the end of 2012 on more comfortable seating, WiFi availability, and McTV.

The ACSI performs its rankings by random phone and email survey of 250 consumers, per restaurant. Over 750,000 surveys are conducted annually.
