Panera Bread’s New Charged Lemonade Makes The Internet Go Caffeine-Crazy
In today’s fast paced world, you need as much energy as possible to keep up. While working at her local Panera Bread, TikToker @sarahebaus was jolted to discover the caffeine culprit behind her high productivity: Panera Bread’s Mango Yuzu Citrus Charged Lemonade.
“[And] it has caffeine. And I knew that, but when I’m sitting there, I’ll drink four or five of these. And I was always like, man when I work at Panera, I feel great, I feel awesome, I get so much done,” Sarah Baus eagerly shared.
Baus found out during a visit through the drive-thru with her husband, who is a Type 1 Diabetic. After both decided on a Charged Lemonade, understandably, her husband checked the nutritional facts to make sure it was safe for him to drink. Mind-blown by the drink’s contents, Baus’ husband found that the regular size has 82g of sugar. Even more staggering is that it’s also loaded with 260mg of caffeine.
Clearly taken aback, Baus looked up espresso, generally considered a high-caffeinated drink, and saw that it only has 63mg of caffeine on average for one shot.
Shocked, Baus exclaimed, “I don’t drink coffee. I don’t have caffeine very much….I thought. And I feel like The Hulk!”
She ends by asking Panera Bread, “Why would you create a product with 260mg of caffeine?!”
