Nick Offerman Harnesses Mustache Magic As The New Face (And Mustache) Of Pringles

It’s a bird, it’s a plane…? It’s a MUSTACHE! With the Superbowl rolling up on Sunday, myself (and 41% of the U.S. population according to data from 2022) plan on watching the Big Game simply for the commercials. Whether it’s a tearjerking Folgers commercial, an iconic Budweiser Clydesdale commercial, or something entirely fresh and new, it’s safe to say that this Sunday sets the tone for advertising in 2025.

Pringles is one of the biggest names in advertising, and year after year, they call on Hollywood’s most iconic mustache-clad heroes to embody Mr. Pringle himself. This time, the honor goes to Nick Offerman, who isn’t just taking up the mantle—he’s soaring with it. I sat down with Offerman to talk about his new ad, his legendary resume, and, of course, his infamous facial hair.

Foodbeast: After twenty years in the acting game, did you ever imagine yourself — more specifically your mustache — being the face of Pringles for the Super Bowl?

Offerman: Talking about good career fortune, one of the greatest things that I never did on purpose was get handed a fullsome set of whiskers from Mother Nature that, you know, when I first got to LA, casting directors would tell me I’m not getting the part but I’ll be happy when I get to my “Sheriff Years.” It wasn’t until I got to Parks and Rec where we decided [Ron] would have a bushy mustache that it finally clicked for me and I said “A-ha!” I’m just incredibly lucky that good fortune keeps coming my way thanks to Mother Nature’s gift on my face.

Foodbeast: Do you have any big Super Bowl traditions that help you celebrate every year?

Offerman: You know, it depends, because our jobs are like working in a traveling circus where any given year, we might be in LA or where I prefer in Illinois. Last year I was in London so you never know where you’re gonna land. I always like to be with my family. My father, my brother, and I all love to be together and use our smokers. My brother’s also a purveyor of craft beers. There’s always something new and weird out there we like to try like “Oh, there’s a new kind of jalepeno popper out there… guess what’s inside?!” And the funny part is Pringles are actually the ideal snack for a mustache because there are certain things that can get hung up in the whiskers so you gotta keep it clean. With Pringles, it’s a small little serving platter you can load up with little strips of bacon and sneak past the whiskers.

Foodbeast: It sounds like you come from a big cooking family! Is cooking a familial love language for the Offerman clan?

Offerman: My family was a very hardworking family. In the modern age, we’ve been allowed to become much more hedonistic hobbyists where the Internet helps us stay well-versed in new products and recipes. Growing up, my parents both grew up on farms so things were much simpler, but no less celebratory, so we all took turns cooking and to this day, pride ourselves on cooking. But as the years have gone on, the dishes have gotten much more delicious.

Foodbeast: Sounds like your parents knew what they were doing!

Offerman: In the 70s and 80s, my parents were both working and now in his retirement, my father is now the mayor of our small town here in Illinois. But somehow both my parents will take turns putting on the apron and cooking for each other. Back then, it would be like beef stew and fresh-baked bread hot out of the oven and slathered in butter for football Sunday.

Nick’s big Pringles commercial debut will take place this Sunday during the second quarter of the game. Now, I mustache you a question: are YOU ready for some FOOTBALL?
