Mystery Person That Dumped 500 Pounds Of Uncooked Pasta On A Jersey Roadside Revealed

In a curious tale involving copious amounts of carbohydrates, a small New Jersey town is garnering media attention. The hoopla stems from a recently-solved mystery where hundreds of pounds of uncooked pasta were discovered next to a local stream. According to Smithsonian Mag, it all began in late April after someone stumbled upon the piles of noods near a popular dump site for furniture and construction materials.

The unnamed resident decided to contact Nina Jochnowitz, a resident of the town who is known for being politically active. After seeing it first-hand, Jochnowitz snapped pictures of what she estimated to be between 300 to 500 pounds of ziti, spaghetti, and elbow-shaped pasta across a 25-foot area. She then shared them on social media and sent her pics to local government officials to inform them of the sanitation issue.

Fortunately, local authorities chose to forego the running gag and proactively worked to address the messy situation. While the pasta was uncooked, it had softened slightly due to rain. Himanshu Shah, the town’s business administrator, directed public works employees to clean it up.

With the pasta removed, the mystery of who dumped it there in the first place still remained. Neighbors living near the area put their noggins together and solved it. Using security footage, they discovered that it was a local man that was cleaning out his recently-deceased mother’s house. Apparently, the man is a military veteran, and the neighbors have chosen to keep his identity a secret.

With the pasta culprit revealed, Jochnowitz says she never intended for the photos she uploaded to go viral, she only wanted the town to do their job.
