This Massive Half Pound Fruit Loop Is A Must Have Gift This Holiday Season
Quirky and creative artist collective MSCHF is not stranger to headline-grabbing food items. Remember their holy water seltzer?
Their latest shock product looks to sweeten your holiday season in a big way. Taking clear inspiration from iconic cereal brand Fruit Loops, the new collector’s item comes in the form of one giant, 930-calorie Fruit Loop.
MSCHF’s goal is to take playful stabs at consumerism by subverting pop culture. Case in point, their “Big Fruit Loop” is a single loop large enough to fill a box of cereal.
When asked the meaning of the art piece, MSCHF’s co-founder Daniel Greenberg told CNN, “Just like, let’s make a big f—ing fruit oop and that was it.”
Jokes aside, the replication process took actual months of hard work, as Greenberg and team aimed for a final product nearly indistinguishable from a real fruit loop.
Like previous releases, MSCHF once again straddles the line between satire and copyright infringement. In a statement, Kellogg spokesperson Kris Bahner said:
“Kellogg Company does not have a relationship with MSCHF and we were not involved in the creation of the Big Fruit Loop. The campaign does not accurately depict the Kellogg’s brand,” said Bahner in the statement. “Given the trademark infringement and unauthorized use of our brand, we have reached out to the company seeking an amicable resolution.”
At only $19.99, potential legal snags won’t stop this limited-edition creation from selling out. For a chance to take your love for breakfast to new heights, head to MSCHF’s website for purchasing details.
