MOD Pizza Chain Honors Employee That Passed Away By Naming Pizza After Her
A MOD Pizza employee that passed away in late January is being honored by the national pizza chain through a new pie created in her name.
The team member, Sophie, worked at the MOD location in Rochester Hills, MI, prior to her passing. According to a friend that shared her story on Reddit, all of Sophie’s coworkers at the location told corporate about her. MOD then posted a tribute to her on their website, saying that Sophie was “a fiercely loyal friend and coworker who was always the first” to help out those who needed it.
“She left an unfillable hole in the hearts of every squad member at Rochester Hills,” the site also says.
Alongside the tribute, MOD decided to name their newest seasonal pizza after the beloved team member. The “Sophie” consists of white sauce, arugula, bacon, mozzarella, artichokes, Parmesan cheese, and “Sri-rancha” sauce. The pizza will be on national menus throughout the spring season as a heartwarming way to thank Sophie for the impact she left upon the company.
MOD Pizza also said in their tribute to Sophie that anyone who wants to contribute a “memorial” to Sophie’s name to donate to the Michigan Humane Society.
In the words of Sophie’s friend, “It’s just really nice to see her remembered in some way.”
