M&M’s Creates Championship Ring With Actual Diamonds Made From Peanut Butter Candy
The Big Game is nearly two weeks away and M&M’s has dropped a teaser for its new campaign related to the event. The brand is partnering with NFL Hall of Fame legends Dan Marino, Terrell Owens, and Bruce Smith, all of whom missed out on earning a Super Bowl ring during their careers.
Although the game’s winners only receive the coveted championship ring, M&M’s believes that these three “almost champions” deserve their flowers anyway. The brand has created the first-of-its-kind “M&M’S Almost Champions Ring of Comfort,” and yes, it’s made from the candy itself. The new ring features actual diamonds and was created in a specialized lab from M&M’S peanut butter candies.
For the largest diamonds, M&M’S peanut butter was exposed to a high-pressure environment that consisted of 3,000°C (or 5432°F) temperatures and 800,000 pounds per square inch of pressure. The diamonds were ground then graded into their final form. Additionally, the 14K gold ring comes with a diamond-encrusted replica of M&M’S Orange character and even a secret compartment to house a single Peanut Butter M&M.
“I’m no stranger to laying it all out on the field and still not seeing those efforts result in a win. You’re not going to win every game in life, which is why you’ve got to remember to have fun through it all. I applaud M&M’S for making a point to offer fun and comfort to everyone — especially in such an unexpected way,” says Terrell Owens.
