McDonald’s To Begin Phasing Out Self-Serve Soda Fountains

As a response to customers’ changing dining habits, McDonald’s will be phasing out all self-serve soft drink stations at U.S. locations by 2032. A few locations have already done so, taking lead in a movement that addresses fewer customers dining in at McDonald’s restaurants.

The plans is for dine-in customers to simply ask McDonald’s employees for refills at the counter. As customer habits change, many fast food brands have been experimenting with different business models, work flows, and technological features to adjust accordingly.
