McDonald’s Spices Things Up With Two New Sauces

Mickey D’s is dropping two new limited-edition sauces on October 9 called Sweet & Spicy and Mambo.

Sweet & Spicy Jam is a red pepper sauce that packs a Szechuan peppercorn and cayenne pepper punch. McDonald’s in-house chefs recommend using it liberally on any of their popular breakfast items.

Mambo was inspired by Washington D.C.’s famous mambo sauce (also popular in Chicago). It’s a unique regional flavor that will surprise those who’ve never visited either city. Mambo sauce is distinctive for its tomato-based, sweet, spicy, and vinegary flavor. The flavor is so ideal that I recommend using it on everything.

“We get inspiration for the food our fans love by exploring the incredible tastes and flavors found in communities across the country,” said McDonald’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA, Tariq Hassan. “To celebrate their arrival, we’re passing the mic to some of our biggest sauce fans — food content creators — to get their authentic reactions from the very first, drizzle, dip and bite.”

In promotion of the new sauce offerings, McDonald’s is teaming with food content creators @Mr.Eats305, @sharidyonne, @santanakeish, @misslegarda, @natelovlogs and @blackgirlsexploredc. Each will share their own custom food creations using the sauces.

Taking it a step further, McDonald’s will honor the heritage of the famous Mambo sauce with the release of an original documentary that shares the stories of local sauce makers, restaurateurs, small business owners, and fans that keep the culture going. It will debut on McDonald’s YouTube channel on October 9.
