Legendary Rapper Jadakiss Joins the Family Coffee Business
Legendary rapper Jadakiss just dropped some new hotness — but not in the way you might think. The New York-bred emcee (born Jason Phillips) has teamed with his father, Bob, and son, Jaewon, to launch Kiss Café, a new coffee line.
The company has just released Beijo (kiss in Portuguese), a medium-dark roast Arabica blend sourced from Central America, which comes in both whole bean and ground options.
“This coffee is for all coffee lovers,” said Jadakiss. “No specific age or background or knowledge. Coffee is a universal and a personal thing. Everyone enjoys it differently. And, we’re here to help them do that.”
Four decades in the making, the brand was inspired by Bob Phillips’ 40-year career in the coffee industry. Since 1998, he’s served as president and CEO of Caturra Corp., a boutique importing and trading firm that specializes in international green coffees. In 2018, Jaewon joined his grandfather at the company.
“This is one of my proudest professional and personal achievements,” said Bob Phillips. “There is no greater honor than taking what you’ve learned in this life and inspiring your family to join you in taking that pursuit to the next level.”
“Kiss Café is authentic,” added Jaewon Phillips. “It’s real. No gimmicks. It’s been in our family for well over 40 years and everything we do here is from the core.”
The Kiss Café branding and packaging was developed in partnership with longtime creative director and friend to the family, Set Free Richardson. The logo features three, intertwined coffee beans representing each Phillips, as well as family, heritage and tradition.
Kiss Café will announce its first retail and experiential partners in the coming months. Currently, Kiss Cafe’s Beijo is available exclusively online via the brand’s website for $14.99.
Imagine having a cup of Jadakiss‘ Kiss Cafe coffee with a protein bowl at Styles P’s Juices For Life. Who ever thought that hip-hop would take it this far?
