Krispy Kreme Drops A Pina Colada Donut, Brings Key Lime Back For Summer
Vacation vibes are coming a little early this year, especially with those getting vaccinated and looking to get the feel of the ocean.
For those looking to get a little tropical flavor and nostalgia back, Krispy Kreme is dropping a nationwide collection of donuts inspired by island flavors.
Chief amongst these is the Pina Colada donut, which isn’t spiked with rum, but has everything else you would expect in the classic cocktail. There’s a Pina Colada icing and a Pina Colada filling in the fried treat, with toasted coconut flakes and a candied cherry on top.
Key Lime, which was a buzzworthy flavor Krispy Kreme dropped in 2019, is also making a comeback for the season. There’s a Key Lime Pie donut that features a Key Lime filling and graham cracker topping, plus the chain’s tangy Key Lime glaze.
On Friday, May 21, and Friday, May 28, Key Lime glazed and Key Lime filled doughnuts, the original doughnuts from 2019, will be sold as well.
The last doughnut in Krispy Kreme’s vacation lineup is the Island Time donut. It doesn’t have a special flavor, but comes decorated with icing to give it the resemblance of a palm tree-studded island. It’s a beckon and call to summer holidays that have been sorely missed.
All of these donuts are available starting May 17th for a limited time. For those wondering, the Krispy Kreme vaccination special is still ongoing as well, so you could pick up a free original glazed while trying one of these newer flavors.
