In-N-Out Announces First-Ever Closure Of A Location

It’s a sad day for In-N-Out lovers in Oakland, California. For the first time in its 75 years in operation, the fast food chain has closed a location.

According to CNN, the Oakland In-N-Out location will close due to crime in the city.

“We have made the decision to close our In-N-Out Burger location in Oakland, California, due to ongoing issues with crime,” said In-N-Out chief operating officer Denny Warnick via a statement. “Despite taking repeated steps to create safer conditions, our Customers and Associates are regularly victimized by car break-ins, property damage, theft, and armed robberies.”

Warnick said the location was “busy and profitable,” but they couldn’t continue to ask its customers or employees to “visit or work in an unsafe environment.” The 100 affected employees at the location will either transfer to a nearby location in San Francisco or receive severance.

The Oakland In-N-Out restaurant location, which has been open for nearly two decades, will close on March 24.
