In Case You Missed It: Umami Does Hot Dogs Now, Is Also Opening a New Location

First, the important bits: Popular California burger chain Umami has just announced plans to open its newest location on the site of LA’s historic Papoo’s Hot Dog Show, incorporating most of the existing signage into the redesign, as well as offering seven new signature hot dogs, breakfast and organic milkshakes

And now, the really important bits: Umami’s making hot dogs. And it apparently has been since at least 2010.

According to Always Hungry NY, the “Umami Dog”—which is currently available, s’far as we can tell, only at the Thousand Oaks and La Brea locations—features “cilantro, relish, sauerkraut, and Dijon mustard on a Kobe beef hot dog that goes snap!” as well as a little too much dry bun for comfort.

Frankly, I just wanna know where they print the “U.” Is it on the dog instead? Do you have to flip the whole thing over to see it on the bun’s backside? Or does the shape of the bun kinda make up for that nigh-eponymous missing vowel?
