The Iconic Green Matrix Code Is Actually Made Up Of Sushi Recipes

iconic matrix code

Legendary movie The Matrix has one of the most recognizable openings in history: that iconic green Matrix cod and, almost indiscernible Japanese characters running down the screen. Many have attempted to decipher what all of the messages really mean,  but to no avail. Fortunately, the man who wrote the code himself has given us the answer, and it’s not what we were expecting at all.

In an interview with CNET, production designer Simon Whiteley revealed that he made the code out of sushi recipes. Whiteley scanned all of the characters that went into the sequence from his Japanese wife’s cookbooks. “Without that code, there is no Matrix,” Whiteley said.

It’s an odd but interesting solution to the mystery that has enthralled fans of the Matrix franchise for years. Some Twitter users definitely had some interesting things to say about it.

Now all that’s left to do is look at all the characters once again to see if we can learn any sushi recipes.
