Always Trust The Random Uncle When They Know A Good Food Spot

For intrepid IRL streamer, MeesterKeem, Seoul, South Korea became the backdrop for the first episode of his new Foodbeast series, Foodbeast World Tour. With the show’s focus on Keem’s globetrotting adventures and the world’s buffet that he eats along the way, we get to see him spotlight a gallery of flavors and experiences that only a true Foodbeast can.

In this debut episode, Keem savors seolleongtang (Korean ox bone soup) from a 100-year-old restaurant, and finds a burger chain that can rival his beloved In-N-Out. What’s more, he finds his way to Gwangjang Market, one of the oldest and largest traditional markets in South Korea, featuring more than 5,000 shops and food vendors.

As Keem makes his way through the bustling market, he’s flagged down by a random uncle, beckoning him to pull up a seat for a meal of tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and sundae (blood sausage). But once uncle busts out the rice wine, you know things start to go up from there.

The uncle then makes his way further into the market, encouraging Keem to follow. With blind faith and a bit of trepidation, he gives chase. Thankfully, the uncle serves up a massive W and leads Keem to a spot that serves live octopus. Through some touching moments of bonding over a plate of raw beef and undulating octopus legs, Keem is shown how comforting an uncle-approved meal is.

Lesson learned: when in doubt, follow the random uncle to the promised land.
