Edible Giant Toasted Leafcutter Ants

Yes, these are really ants, and yes, they have been toasted and are completely edible. Edible Giant Toasted Leafcutter Ants measure approximately 1″ long and are apparently a delicacy from Colombia and among the biggest ants in the world. They tout the scientific name Atta laevigata, these bad boys are advertised to be a unique snack food ready to throw some spice into a party or small gathering. While we have yet to try them, the bottle reads that they have a “nutty bacon like taste“. ($24.99 @ ThinkGeek)
