Dorito Bread — Delicious Proof We Have Lost Our Minds

First, there were Mountain Dew and Doritos Cupcakes, then came Beer and Bacon-Battered Deep-Fried Doritos. Now, Dorito Bread and Butter have come to rock our apparently mediocre world and nothing will ever be the same again. Created by Andy Rapoport of  Hot Buttered Rum, the recipes require the simple, yet elegant call for crushed Doritos folded into the bread dough and butter embedded with finely ground Nacho Cheese Doritos.

“The inspiration behind this preposterous recipe was the desire to create something juxtaposing man’s most basic sustenance, made with the ancient tradition of a wild yeast starter-with an ingredient most modern, heavily processed, and addictive: the Dorito,” Andy Rapoport told Bon Appétit.

It appears that the Dorito has managed to incorporate itself into every aspect of the food industry. From the chip aisles of grocery stores to fast food à la Doritos Locos Taco to homemade recipes (arguably the final frontier), this most contemporary snack has not only proven its resiliency but also our insatiable thirst for the peculiar.

Yes, that’s a polite way of saying we’ve all lost our minds to our own appetites.
