Domino’s Pizza Guy Delivers Despite Flood; $1,004 Tip

During my visit of Domino’s HQ a few days ago, a couple of their employees were telling me a story of one of their amazing delivery drivers and how he delivered in a flood, just so a woman can get her pizza fix. Reportedly, driver Caleb Hartsell departed from his East Bay Domino’s location to deliver 4 orders, only to turn onto a street that was covered with a foot and a half of water.

He parked in safety, took off his shoes and walked across the bed of water and up the flight of steps to the front door. The order totaled $18.00 for two medium pizzas and a 2 liter of soda. His tip you ask? $4.00. According to Charleston City Paper, Caleb was not disappointed in the tip.

What wasn’t reported in this story? A few Domino’s higher-ups were so touched by the story of this young man, he will get an additional $1,000 tip from CEO Patrick Doyle. With a little math, we found out that equals a $1004 tip. Not bad.
