Skip The Fair, Deep-Fried Twinkies Are Now Being Sold In Stores

What’s your favorite way to eat a Twinkie? Frozen? Straight out of the wrapping? How about deep fried?

Deep Fried Twinkies have been a popular fair food for years, but soon Twinkie lovers will be able to skip the fair altogether and enjoy the deep fried treat from the comfort of their own homes.

Hostess worked with Walmart to develop a prepackaged version of the fair food favorite. Before packaging, the original golden sponge cakes are dipped in funnel cake batter and flash fried.

Unlike regular Twinkies, which are ready to go from the package, the deep fried version will need to be popped in the oven for a few minutes before they are enjoyed. The treats are also supposed to be kept frozen prior to cooking.

The deep fried treat will be available exclusively at Walmart for the next year starting August 22.
