Das Racist’s “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell”

Brooklyn-based rap group Das Racist has yet to be covered by FOODBEAST. We figured it would be beneficial to bring to light this far-from-new group and their popular-several-years-ago song Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell,” simply because a good amount of our audience may have not yet heard or appreciated this ridiculous song:

Flourishing and aging beautifully over time, the song’s lyrics are both simple in vernacular but arguably profound in their commentary on consumer identity, juvenile behavior, corporations, and rap music in general. Charting over a million views and multiple iterations on YouTube, the group’s song is definitely being identified with on a global level.

Without taking a Lupe Fiasco-style approach to illuminating what’s wrong with America, and the world, explicitly, Das Racist has ultimately completed the same task by sharing their experiences of a trip to a combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

Do you often find yourself chuckling at the sight of multiple Starbucks, or big name Fast Food brands within a block of each other? Or possibly in the same shopping center? That’s the situation the song seems to be relaying, with the lyricists apparently attempting to meet up at the same restaurant, on the same street, but seem to still be at different locations.

Commentary about two of the world’s most notoriously unhealthy food brand names merging under one roof? Could be. Then again, they are smoking marijuana cigarettes throughout the course of the song.

Haha. I said marijuana cigarettes.
