Dairy Queen Teamed Up With ‘Guardians 2’ For Their New Brookie-Filled Blizzards

Hold on tight. Dairy Queen’s got a new Blizzard that’ll transport you to another galaxy.

The fast food chain is teaming up with Marvel to help promote the new movie “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” with a Guardians-themed Blizzard and a campaign that’ll have you digging out your old cassette player. If you still have one, that is.

DQ’s new Blizzard, called the Guardians Awesome Mix, takes Brookies (a mashup treat of brownies and cookies) and chops them up into vanilla soft serve, caramel, and choco chunks. You can get the Blizzard on its own, substituted as a Mini Blizzard into the $5 Buck Lunch for an additional dollar, or as part of the new “Guardian Snacks” item, which is a Mini Blizzard served alongside three hot pretzel sticks and queso. These items all launch today, so you can head on over anytime to snag one for yourself.

Additionally, DQ will be launching a nostalgic but fun campaign around the hit movie called “Mission Mixtape” at noon CDT on April 26th. They’ll be giving away 1,000 exclusive cassettes on the Mission Mixtape website, each of which contains unofficial bonus tracks related to Guardians 2 and a special code for prizes like signed movie posters or DQ gift cards.

The catch here is that you have to supply your own cassette player if you’re able to snag one of these exclusive retro cassettes.

In trade for doing this sweet promo, DQ looks like it will be getting some kind of feature in the upcoming Guardians movie. Some exclusive behind-the-scenes video shows filming occurring at both a retro and newer version of the iconic restaurant.

Maybe the whole gang gets together for some Brookie-filled Blizzards at the end, Avengers style? Guess we’ll have to watch the movie when it releases on May 5th to find out.
