Cooking Channel’s Holiday 2011 Programming Highlights
With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching and eager beavers setting up Christmas trees as early as the first of November (you know who you are), it’s time to watch more television. Whether it’s the time off work, the colder weather, or a combination of both, it’s pristine TV vegetation time, and for those tuning in to the Cooking Channel, here’s a look at some of the programming you can look forward to:
For the Love of Pie (Premieres: Sunday, November 13th at 8pm ET / 5pm PT)
- This show aims to showcase the “pie craze” that seems to sweeping the nation. The show’s depiction makes some lofty comparisons between pies and cupcakes, even going so far as to highlight the belief that “pies are the next cupcakes.” The “road trip” style programming will take viewers across the countries “FOR THE LOVE OF PIE!”
United Tastes of America: Thanksgiving (Premieres: Tuesday, November 15th at 10pmET/7pmPT)
- Jeffrey Saad will travel coast-to-coast in this special episode of United Tastes of America to check out what dishes leading chefs will be putting on their own tables this year. Along with those fun looks into the chefs home dishes, he will also explore some “surprising lessons in what the real pilgrims ate at the first Thanksgiving feast.“
A Very Rocco Christmas (Premieres: Sunday November 27th at 8pm ET/5pm PT)
- “David and Nina celebrate their first Christmas with their twin daughters in their 500 year old Tuscan farmhouse with dear friends and family. David prepares a series of traditional classic Italian Christmas dishes like Stuffed and Fried Squid, and Spaghetti with Braised Octopus. He and Nina go to Florence for some Christmas shopping, to take in the city at Christmastime and to raise a glass to the season with good friends.”
Cookies and Cocktails (Premieres: Sunday, December 4th at 8pm ET/5pm PT)
- “A modern twist to the cookie swap: cookies, cocktails, laughter, late nights and good times. Cooking Channel’s Kelsey Nixon helps her friend, swimsuit model and passionate foodie, Chrissy Teigen, host a festive holiday cookie swap with a group of Chrissy’s close friends. Throughout the special, viewers follow each guest home to get an inside look at the story behind each of the delicious cookies.”
Nadia G’s Bitchin’ Kitchen: Feast of the Seven Dishes (Premieres: Wednesday, December 7th at 10pm ET/ 7pm PT)
- “In this Christmas extravaganza, Nadia G cooks up a not-so-traditional “Feast of the Seven Dishes”, with an international twist, as she riffs on the holiday season.”
Chuckmas (Premieres: Sunday, December 11th at 8pm ET/5pm ET)
- “Chef Chuck Hughes is taking on his biggest challenge ever: hosting Christmas dinner! Chuck brings together an unforgettable holiday feast for his toughest critics of all – his family.”
Paula’s Cookie Swap (Premieres: Sunday, December 4th at 7pm ET/4pm PT)
- “The holiday season is finally here, and this year Paula is throwing the Ultimate Cookie Swap Party! She has invited her friends, family, HGTV’s David Bromstad, and a few very special viewers to join in the festivities! First, her sons, Bobby and Jamie, come by to make one of the family’s favorite cookies…Grandma Paul’s Sand Tarts. Then, three of Paula’s lucky viewers, Christy, Susan and Jeannie share their Christmas spirit with recipes from their favorite cookies.
