This Old Coke Machine Is Actually A Secret Entrance Into A Speakeasy

There’s an old, beat up Coca Cola machine chillin’ in the middle of a sandwich shop in Shanghai, China. Most might not think much of it, but those in the know don’t try to buy a refreshing Coke from it, they bust it open and walk right into an hidden upscale bar known as the Flask. This fancy bar was designed by Alberto Caiola and he said that he tried to make it feel different than other speakeasy-themed bars by giving it the sandwich shop facade. The owner of the bar did an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit Tuesday where he revealed a few deets, such as, there’s actually a front door to this bar, but that’s no fun.

Here’s what else we learned from the AMA:

While most bars in Shanghai feature their malt scotch, Flask’s main focus is bourbon and rye.

Unfortunately, the owner, who went by “dakidjacki” on Reddit, said that no one’s ever been hit by the secret door.

He also revealed that the bar was around before the awesome secret door was put up.

When a customer accidentally discovered the secret door, he thought it led to the bathroom, leading to weird stares from the bar-goers.
