Chick-Fil-A Ad Says ‘Only A Fruitcake Wouldn’t Love Our Party Trays’ – Update
A Chick-fil-A flyer from a franchise in Atlanta is floating around the internet and causing many, already torn between morality and a tasty chicken sandwich, to shake their heads. The flyer reads, “Only A Fruitcake Wouldn’t Love Our Party Trays!”
While this may just be a innocent pun-gone-wrong on the part of the franchise, we’re sure Chick-Fil-A isn’t gaining any newfound friends from this faux pas and that their PR team is scrambling to administer damage control. After the recent media frenzy over accusations claiming the business as “anti-gay” and company president Dan Cathy admitting “guilty as charged” when questioned about Chick-fil-A’s established position against marriage equality, this does not bode well.
Earlier today, Chick-fil-A issued a statement to the Advocate, regretting their flyer’s misstep: “This is an advertisement that a locally owned and operated restaurant has been using for the past five years to promote Chick-fil-A’s catering options during the holidays. It was simply a play on words referring to the traditional holiday food, and the restaurant had no intention of offending anyone whatsoever. We regret the flyer may haven been taken out of context.”
Bad timing much?
