With Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods now set in stone, many changes are happening. We’ve already seen some awesome discounts in stores, and a wide selection of Whole Foods items are on Amazon’s website. Of course, the big question on everyone’s mind is: What’s next?
Food and Wine is offering up a potential answer to that question, and it’s not one you’d expect.
Apparently, an all-natural lineup of Frito-Lay Simply chips, including Cheetos and Doritos, could be the next big thing to hit Whole Foods. PepsiCo executives have confirmed that the new chips meet all the criteria to enter Whole Foods stores. Additionally, Amazon is already selling the Simply chips on their website, meaning that a transition to Whole Foods could be simple.
Thus, the possibility is quite real that Whole Foods could begin selling all-natural Cheetos in stores. One analyst from top financial firm Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. expects Whole Foods to start carrying cleaner products from big brands. If that happens, then these Cheetos could be one of the first big-name products we see at Whole Foods.
Obviously, neither PepsiCo or Whole Foods are confirming any such relationship at this point, so we’ll have to wait and see if Frito Lay chips at Whole Foods becomes a reality or not.
