In the first official partnership between an NBA team and a social media influencer, it was announced that the Charlotte Hornets have made a deal with YouTube behemoth, MrBeast, and his snack brand, Feastables. As part of the deal, Feastables will be an Official Jersey Patch Partner, which means that the company’s logo will be featured on the Hornets’ player’s jerseys.
A jersey patch deal is basically a sponsorship program that allows businesses to pay for “ad space” on jerseys. The NBA, MLB, and NHL all participate in it. According to a company press release shared by Yahoo!News, Hornets COO and president Fred Whitefield said, “We are thrilled to welcome Feastables and North Carolina native MrBeast into our Hornets family. We are excited to have this opportunity to introduce MrBeast’s fans to the Hornets and the Feastables brand to NBA fans around the world through our jersey patch. We are confident this innovative, new partnership will be significantly beneficial for everyone involved.”
The Hornets, the Greensboro Swarm, and the virtual and physical uniforms of the Hornets Venom GT, the organization’s NBA G League and NBA 2K League affiliates will all feature the Feastables logo. The Featables logo will also be displayed on all media backdrops for press conferences as well.
